Responsibilities

Job Summary  

Individual contributor responsible for development/installation, configuration, engineering and management of complex data warehouse/BI environments that may include multiple operating system platforms, languages, hardware and network topologies.

Essential Tasks
    
Participate in business requirement gathering activities with business users to understand all aspects of the business (functionality, processes, technologies); determine feasibility of requests; identify best approach to provide technology solutions to meet business needs; provide detailed estimations (time, cost, resources); and then translate into technical specifications.

Complete full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) from design, development, testing and implementation.  This includes integration with other systems.  Must be able to provide recommendations for enterprise architecture.
    
Provide support and troubleshooting for all related systems and technologies.  This includes being a point of contact for business users.  Requires strong problem solving and communication skills to interpret issues and provide resolution.  Must be able to coordinate with any vendors for escalation of support related issues.

Job Requirements

Essential Requirements
•Hands On knowledge in required BI tools, databases, operating systems, languages, development tools, networking, and software packages.
•Participates in full lifecycle projects to understand business requirements and then completes the design, development, testing, implementation and post production support.
•Translate functional specifications into technical specifications to provide low level details for development lifecycle.
•Work with other members of the development team as well as product owners and business analysts to define function and technical requirements.
•Assist end users in resolving and identifying system issues by providing application knowledge and technical expertise.  Recommend appropriate solutions.
•Possess the knowledge of software development (i.e., program design, coding, testing, debugging, etc.).
•Particpates in discussions concerning innovative, cost effective ways to implement new technologies; to lead in the evaluation of new products, platforms, and technologies; leveraging best practices based on industry standards and lessons learned while taking initiatives.
•Perform administrative functions related to project activities; project plans, status reports, issue/risk management, etc.
•Produce Quality solutions/artifacts
•Prepare user documentation and train users on new systems and functionality
•Recommend system enhancements, patches or upgrades necessary to support system stability and performance
•Operate with minimal supervision; self starter
•Participate in 24/7 on-call support activities

Technical Skills:
•5+ years w/ recent hands-on experience with any of the common BI toolsets (MicroStrategy, Oracle OBIEE, Tableau, Business Objects, Cognos, etc.)
•Large data volumes (at least 10-15 Terabytes)
•Ability to pull, analyze and interpret data through Canned/Batch and Ad-hoc methodologies
•Proficiency with SQL
•Familiar with transactional, relational and multidimensional designs
•Must have understanding of information systems, data modeling, business intelligence, relational database design and knowledge of how to access multiple information sources for analytical purposes
•High capacity for data analysis, data modeling, problem solving, sound judgment, accuracy and attention to detail
•Thorough understanding of Data Warehousing architectures, techniques, and methodologies including:  Star Schemas, Snowflake Schemas, Slowly Changing Dimensions, Aggregation Techniques, etc.
•Experience with Enterprise Metadata Design, Development, Administration, and Support
•Experience with Performance Optimization tuning and techniques
•Experience with Weblogic and Java are beneficial
•Understands the concepts of Big Data
    
Work Experience and Education:
•Four year degree in Information Systems or an equivalent combination of course work and job experience
•5+ years of systems analysis and programming experience; minimum three years of project design activities
•Knowledge of retail industry
•Proficiency with various languages, databases, operating systems, scripting languages, and utilities
