Responsibilities

The Technical Design Manager leads, manages and supports a designated portion of the total Technical Design Team. Collaborates with cross-functional teams and global business partners to strategically plan for, and achieve, business goals and drive technical initiatives. Accountable for modeling, driving and upholding our Brand Values, Express Essential Competencies, Product Standards and Operational Processes & Procedures. Fosters productive cross-functional relationships and sets the example for their team.

  

Additional reposnibilities include:

-Establishes clear goals and objectives for team and holds self and team accountable for outcomes.  Focuses on outcomes and accomplishments that are measureable & meaningful.

-Ensures best in class fit standards are applied across designated product categories; ensures execution is consistent with established fit quality standards, manufacturer capabilities and cost expectations.

-Executes Technical Design strategy, operations, methods, and measures of effectiveness while maintaining brand standards. Partners with design and merchandising to ensure proper fit standards for garment construction, silhouette and fabric. Partners with quality teams to resolve quality issues in garment construction and/or color process.

-Supports continual improvement and innovation activities to enhance product quality, fit and process effectiveness and regularly reviews tools and processes to identify productivity enhancements and best practices.

-Builds and fosters strong relationships with Design, Merchandising, Sourcing and Production, and other key internal and external partners. Encourages team atmosphere by fostering open communication with all business partners. Serves as a change agent throughout the cross-functional team and supports their direct reports in change processes.

-Partners with factories to troubleshoot, educate, and calibrate to our product standards and operating processes and procedures.

Selects, manages and develops effective technical design talent. Regularly assesses team and individual performance and provides timely and meaningful feedback. 

 

 

Essential Requirements

Education: College degree or equivalent work experience

Experience:

- 10+ years of technical design experience in the garment industry

 

Preferred Requirements (skills and abilities)

-Proven ability to lead, manage, develop & support a team.

-Proven ability to influence & partner cross-functionally to successfully achieve business goals and drive positive change.

-Expert knowledge and understanding of patternmaking, garment fit and engineering.

-Trained eye for design proportion, balance and aesthetic detail.

- Factory assessment/calibration/training

- Proven ability to research and resolve engineering challenges.

- Proven and effective communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.

- Proven ability to organize, plan, prioritize and multitask.

- Expert risk assessment and problem solving skills.

- Expert ability to manage and work independently.

- Proven ability to successfully coach, mentor and develop direct reports.

- Proficiency in Yunique PDM (or Web PDM), Accumark, Illustrator, Photoshop, Outlook, Excel and Word.
