Responsibilities

The Human Resources (HR) Generalist provides comprehensive HR support across Express. Engages with HR leadership to effectively drive talent management activities, including talent reviews, performance management & coaching, and learning & development. Responsible for first line associate relations, as well as ensuring maximum performance and execution in key areas of HR including associate relations, talent management, performance management, and change management  for respective areas. This role will also support HR leaders with a wide variety of project management opportunities supporting the business.

  • Supports the Home Office Internship Program and strategy as a pipeline for entry level positions into the business; this includes assisting with the sourcing and hiring activities for open internships. Develops and coordinates activities and learning programs for the interns. Serves as HR point of contact for interns and hiring managers.  
  • Supports HR leaders across the business. This includes assisting with the development and delivery of organizational effectiveness strategies. Provides effective support to client groups on variety of HR duties including: performance management, compensation, change management and retention.
  • Partners with HR Leadership to support and execute the goals and strategies of the business within assigned functions. Works with HR leaders on special organizational projects, as assigned.
  • Partners with the Talent Acquisition team to fill open positions within assigned functions. Prepares job requisitions, offers letters and employment verification letters. Provides support as needed for the creation and management of org charts and other miscellaneous administrative tasks.

 

Essential Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's degree in HR or equivalent, Human Resource certifications (PHR) a plus.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in HR, preferably in a retail environment.
  • Attention to detail, follow-up and excellent organization.
  • Demonstrated communication skills and the ability to own and drive a project to completion.
  • Ability to build relationships and gain respect at all organizational levels based on business acumen and operational intelligence.
  • Ability to make and communicate decisions in the best interest of the company in situations with sensitive/confidential information.
  • Exhibits approachability and is optimistic and enthusiastic in what they do.
  • Continuously seeks new knowledge; exhibits curiosity; applies new learning to existing challenges and is viewed as a creative and effective problem solver.
