    Responsibilities

    Job Summary 

    The Technical Project Manager drives the execution of enterprise wide software projects within engineering, across Commerce Systems, Information Technology and serve as Delivery Lead on enterprise software projects, bringing together cross-functional teams (creative, merchandising, product manager, UX, Design, Engineering, and others) to drive key systemic integrations, process and change management for the successful delivery of key projects. A TPM possess the deep process understanding how software is developed, deployed and operationalized.

     

    Key skills to success: excellent communications within the Express and with third party vendors, proactively identifying issues and milestones, continuously update projects with a repeating model, ability to multi-task a portfolio of projects, and ability to influence and manage cross-functional partners.

     

    Day-to-day the TPM will be the gate keeper for all software projects across multiple disciplines (application, mobile, web development and third party) working with business owners, product managers and developers to help identify scope, process, estimation and set expectations appropriately.

     

    The TPM manages the development and delivery of primarily large, complex projects. The TPM will have an understanding of structured data (tabular, XML, JSON) along with a strong technical aptitude. This position applies project management knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to meet project requirements. Manages deliverables and activities to accomplish project objectives

     

    Job Requirements

     Essential Requirement

     

    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or related field required. Minimum of 8-10 years of department management or project management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Formal training with multiple lifecycle methodologies, specifically in the Agile methodology, as well as, formal training in project management is required.  Demonstrates understanding of software development life cycle and effectively applies to projects, and enforces project standards to ensure that great software / experiences are rapidly developed.
    • Implementation experience within ecommerce, consumer Internet, web services, or software planning & development.  Broad understanding of Commerce technology tools, providers and trends, especially as they relate to Financial and Store Systems.
    • Drives milestones and reviews with the team and key stakeholders / users, with an emphasis on reviewing working code, to ensure that development is on track. Works with Commerce management to continuously update dates, scope, status, and documentation.
    • Demonstrates a deeper understanding of systems impacting assigned projects, adding consistent value in identifying and resolving technical dependencies and risks as software is being developed that meets the customer need.
    • Proactively contributes business thinking to the project – demonstrates a good understanding of and champions the end-user to ensure the software meets associated needs. Supports continuous improvement processes, analyzing problems and recommending actions to resolve or improve.
    • Strong grasp of technical foundation of data and systems along with the ability to translate business requirements for engineers.
    • Must have solid understanding of project financials along with exposure to and experience with business processes, business analysis, and general business acumen.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively and actively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and ability to influence without authority or direct reports. Strong ability to develop and maintain working relationships with key collaborators both internal and external to the organization.
    • Organized, able to act independently, and able to switch rapidly between different projects in a fast-paced environment. Proven ability to effectively manage time and priorities.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills; escalates appropriately.

    Preferred Requirements

     

    • Program Management experience 3-5 Years
    • Retail experience, preferably in Fashion Apparel.
    • Understanding of specialty retail concepts and processes.
    • Functional knowledge in Store Systems, Financial Systems (RMS), Payment Applications, and Multi-channel Strategy.
    • Ability to quickly learn new applications, tools and environments.
    • Able to contribute API, UX, database schema, workflow or other designs to projects.
