    Responsibilities

    Job Summary 

     

    This engineering position will be primarily responsible for being a leader in creating high available, fault tolerant eCommerce software using a modern functional programming framework.  This critical role will need to work within all components in the eCommerce stack, driving excellence and innovation, communicating with partners, and ideate and integrate solutions to make express.com successful.

    Job Requirements

     

    Essential Requirements

    • Education: Four-year degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of course work and job experience
    • 5 - 7+ years' experience working with application development teams - preferably in an agile development environment writing highly available, functional software.
    • Compensation and seniority level will vary depending on software development experience
    • Good understanding of software design patterns, functional programming, and object oriented programming.
    • Ability to work in an agile development environment, including test-driven development
    • Excellent communication skills to both technical and non-technical personnel
    • Helps focus project scope by providing solutions.
    • Helps scope engagement by providing detailed development time estimates
    • Ability to performance tune and troubleshoot medium to large scale web applications
    • Ability to code within existing CMS/eCommerce framework software
    • Ability to work in a very fast-paced, multi-task environment
    • Identifying new technologies to solve new or existing problems.
    • Ability and willingness to learn new technologies
    • Perform development tasks and duties with little direction or supervision
    • Proficiency with various languages, databases, operating systems, scripting languages, and utilities
    • Orientation to Enterprise Java as a preferred language
    • Working knowledge of
      • at least one Application Server like JBoss, WebLogic, WebSphere, Tomcat etc
      • Spring framework
      • Maven, Ant
      • Micro Services
      • Rest API development
      • SOAP Web Services
      • JMS & Pub-Sub Patterns
    • Advanced knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
    • Working knowledge of node.js, express.js or react.js
    • Understanding of API best practices and service oriented application design.
    • Knowledge of relational database concepts like SQL, indexes and constraints, transactions, and object-relational mapping.
    • Conceptual understanding of caching strategies and content delivery networks, and their utility in managing traffic and scaling.
    • Participate in 24/7 on-call support rotation

     

    Preferred Requirements (skills and abilities)

    • Knowledge of retail industry
    • Awareness of Cloud technologies and concepts
    • Experience in writing unit tests and automated testing.
    • Experience working with searching engines like Elastic Search, Solr etc
    • Experience working with and Integrating with an enterprise-class eCommerce engine (Oracle Web Commerce/ATG, WebSphere, Hybris, CommerceTools etc)
    • Experience working with JVM languages (Groovy, Scala) and JVM architectures (Spring, Sling, Play).
    • Experience working with and integrating with enterprise-class CMS systems (Adobe AEM, etc.)
    • Experience working with Application Performance Monitoring systems like New Relic, DynaTrace, AppDynamics etc
    • Experience working with Java Persistence Frameworks like Hibernate etc
    • Experience using Node, NPM, and Node based build tools (Grunt, Gulp, Browserify, etc.)
    • Experience working with Git and a Gitflow based development process.
    • Experience working with Atlassian based tools (Jira, Bamboo, Confluence, etc.)
    • Experience with implementing social media integrations.
    • Experience implementing Web services and Restful APIs.
    • Knowledge of application performance testing and monitoring.
    • Experience working in continuous integration.
    • Knowledge of data structures and enterprise data solutions.
