    Responsibilities

    The Human Resources Manager provides comprehensive HR support for Express stores in the western portion of the U.S. The Manager reports to the Vice President of Human Resources and is responsible for assisting field leadership with a variety of HR duties, including recruitment strategies, on-boarding, associate relations, performance management, compensation, succession planning, change management and retention.


    This position has strong interaction with field leadership and will involve select travel (up to 25% to stores and field meetings, in addition to facilitating HR focused training from the home office. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to recommend and counsel field leadership through corrective action up to and including termination, while ensuring compliance with all state and federal employment laws. This role will also have the opportunity to assist the Director of HR with a wide variety of projects supporting the business.

     

      • Bachelor's degree in an applicable discipline and/or Human Resource certifications (PHR, SPHR) preferred.
      • 5 to 7 years of experience in HR in a retail environment or 2 to 3 years in a HR Management role.
      • Demonstrated communication skills and the ability to own and drive a project to completion.
      • Ability to build relationships and gain respect based on business acumen and operational intelligence at all levels of the field leadership across the multi-store region.
      • Ability to travel – up to 25%
    • Legal HR compliance experience and knowledge.
    • Ability to make and communicate decisions in the best interest of the company in situations with sensitive/confidential information.
    • Act as a coach and counselor to field leadership and be able to influence decision making at the Director and VP levels.
