    Job Requirements


    Essential Tasks:

    • Implement and maintain the multiple SQL Server Databases that comprise the SQL Server environment (development, test, training and production).
    • Provides technical input and assistance in optimal SQL Server Database configuration to maximize system performance and availability.
    • Administer the SQL Server Databases (plan and perform database upgrades, apply database maintenance, design and maintain physical database layout, perform database reorganizations, design and implement backup and restore strategy, archiving strategy, maintain database security, administer database performance, manage database storage, database problem determination and resolution, etc.).
    • Provide status reports for projects to Database Team Lead and management.
    • Participate in peer reviews on specifications, design and code. Validate the data in the database and also responsible for testing the routines developed. Work closely with QA and Operations to ensure smooth QA and deployment of applications. Work with project teams to plan integration and implementation strategies.


    Essential Requirements:

    • Strong experience with SQL Server 2012 or newer in a virtualized Windows environment.
    • Strong experience with SQL database backup, recovery and cloning.
    • Strong experience with instance performance troubleshooting, including hardware resource contention issues.
    • Experience with AlwaysOn Availability Groups and/or other High Availability technologies.
    • Strong experience with application query tuning, including execution plan interpretation and SQL Profiler and/or Extended Events.
    • Experience with SQL Server software and patch installations.
    • Experience with configuration and support of SQL Replication, Log Shipping, or other data movement technologies.
    • Experience in T-SQL and PowerShell programming.
    • Self-starter capability, ability to acquire new skills autonomously
    • Demonstrably solid written and verbal communication skills to drive projects to successful conclusion
    • Self-motivated with excellent time management and organization skills
    • Demonstrated ability of documenting IT processes and providing knowledge transfer to team members
    • Candidates will be required to provide 24x7 on-call technical support
    • Must be willing and able to work other than normal work hours in an emergency to resolve critical system problems and/or perform production system maintenance.


    Preferred Requirements:

    • Experience with Oracle and/or Teradata administration



    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
    • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience installing, configuring, administering, tuning, and troubleshooting Database products and features for various application suite in Windows environments.
    • Strong DBA skills with SQL Server 2012 or newer
    • Proven skills as a team member
